Tax Season Officially Begins!
Liberty
Tax Service Begins Transmissions to the IRS
Virginia
Beach, VA (January 30, 2013) – The IRS began e-filing this morning at 9:00 sharp
after a lengthy delay to the start of tax season. Liberty Tax offices
nationwide are busy filing tax returns on behalf of their clients.
“The wait is finally over,” said CEO
and founder of Liberty Tax Service, John Hewitt. “This has been an epic
beginning to tax season 2013.” Hewitt, starting his 44th tax season,
stated this season was “the worst delays in filing I have ever seen.”
In 2012, e-filing began on January 17 with over 80 percent of
taxpayers using this filing method. January
22nd was the original date the IRS planned to open electronic filing this year.
However, to reflect the last-minute tax changes Congress made to avoid the
fiscal cliff, the IRS has scrambled to update forms and make programming changes
to its processing systems.
The IRS
reiterates that taxpayers will receive their tax refunds much faster by e-filing
their return. However, some filers will have to wait a little longer, as
the IRS has not yet released all their forms.
