America’s Next Lady Liberty

DEADLINE FOR AMERICA’S NEXT LADY LIBERTY JOB-SEEKERS IS APRIL 15

New Videos Remind Procrastinators That Time Is Running Out

The clock is ticking. The calendar is ready to turn. Time is running out for two important tax-related deadlines approaching on April 15: federal income tax returns and applications to be America’s Next Lady Liberty.

Applications for the one-year employment contract to be Liberty Tax Service’s official spokesperson may only be submitted until midnight on Tax Day. To encourage procrastinators to submit applications, Liberty Tax recently launched a series of online video reminders via major social media outlets.

The three “Need a New Life?” vignettes are humorous looks at not-so-desirable “ordinary” jobs; each 25-second spot suggests Lady Liberty’s $50,000 salary and opportunity to travel the country would be far preferable to the fictional character’s present career choice.

The candidate selected America’s Next Lady Liberty will assist the company over the coming year with public appearances, press interviews, social marketing and by visiting many Liberty Tax offices throughout the country to support various community events, promotions and franchisee recruitment.

“We’re looking for someone with the right balance of skills and abilities, wit and intelligence, but most of all the passion to represent our company for the coming year,” said Liberty Tax founder/CEO John Hewitt. “This is not a contest; it’s a job search. For one special person, it’ll be the dream job of a lifetime.” An online application process and special Web site have been established for America’s Next Lady Liberty, www.americasnextladyliberty.com. The job search is open to all eligible United States citizens – women and men – 21 years of age and older. Applicants must meet all the standard qualifications for other Liberty Tax employee candidates. Candidates will be evaluated by formal education or life experience, professional accomplishments and other qualifications, as well as a short video submission extolling why they are the best person for the job.

The top candidate must be available to relocate and work at the company’s headquarters in Virginia Beach, VA, from June 1, 2010 through May 31, 2011. He/she will be expected to wear the company’s trademarked “Lady Liberty” costume as part of the job description. The selected applicant will be officially introduced at Liberty Tax’s annual meeting in Virginia Beach, Va., June 3, 2010.

In addition to the $50,000 salary, the selected candidate will receive full employee benefits including healthcare, travel allowance, supplied uniform and accessories.
