Support our troops!! Give an American soldier a chance to talk to loved ones just by bringing your used cell phones, iPods and/or toner cartridges to the nearest Liberty Tax Service® office. Find the nearest Liberty Tax office, or call 866-871-1040, and you will be directly connected to your neighborhood Liberty office. Participating Liberty Tax Service offices are drop-off points for Cell Phones for Soldiers. This organization recycles used cell phones and the other items to provide phone calling cards for our military stationed throughout the world.
Cell Phones for Soldiers makes contact with home a reality for soldiers. The high cost of calling home prompted two concerned teenagers to start CPFS with $14 of their snack money. Brittany and Robby Bergquist of Norwell, Massachusetts and their family enlisted the help of sponsors and phone companies to recycle used cell phones to provide calling cards. As a National Premier Partner, Liberty Tax Service has contributed over 120,000 used cell phones sinces 2004 totaling over 11.5 million minutes of calling time for our military. Based on our overwhelming success with March of Dimes, Liberty is now turning our attention to helping find a cure for cancer with the American Cancer Society through Relay For Life. Started in 1985 by a single man passionate about raising money for the American Cancer Society, we know Liberty’s family and friends can really make a difference in the lives of those celebrating, remembering and fighting for loved ones with cancer.
For LTS, it means connecting with an exciting national event that annually has more than 5,000 local events. To participate on a national level, we must commit to at least 50 teams, nationwide. In our debut year, we hope to commit 200 teams to make a difference! To assist with the fundraising effort, the LTS Web site now features an “Ask” in LIBTAX Software that asks for a $1, $2 or $3 donation. With more than 1 million tax returns prepared, we could donate $225,000.

Over 1 billion people in the world suffer from chronic hunger and/or hunger-related illnesses. Sadly, on average, one child under five dies every 5 seconds as a result of hunger or poor nutrition. This is 6 million children per year. Most, if not all of these deaths, are in developing nations. While there is enough food produced each year to feed the world and eliminate these problems, it is not efficiently distributed where it is most needed.
Run For Food International is designed to partner with organizations that are producing measurable results in particular areas of need, e.g., agriculture, feeding facilities, food distribution, livestock, education or economics. Running and walking are activities that millions of people participate in all around the world. Every weekend, in many countries, there are hundreds of sanctioned races. These marathons, half marathons, 10K, 8K or 5K races and fun runs are all opportunities for runners with a desire to end world hunger to partner with Run For Food International to raise resources that will directly benefit starving people.
We are racing to find a solution that will defeat hunger in our lifetime. Running for Food is a Win, Win, Win proposition. First, it saves lives by providing much needed food and nourishment for starving and malnourished people around the world. Second, it provides an opportunity for runners who participate to contribute to the health and welfare of those who are hungry, while at the same time burning calories and learning the importance of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Finally, it gives all participants in any of our programs a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction for the contribution they made to this cause whether it is monetary or physical.
Run For Food International is a new initiative that was established to find innovative and sustainable solutions that will end world hunger. The organization was founded in late 2010 and is growing fast but is still in the developmental stage. Your questions and feedback are important to us.
