Cell Phones For Soldiers

Cell Phone For Soldiers Support our troops! Give an American soldier a chance to talk to loved ones just by bringing your used cell phones, iPods and/or toner cartridges to the nearest Liberty Tax Service office. Find the nearest Liberty Tax office, or call 866-871-1040, and you will be directly connected to your neighborhood Liberty office. All Liberty Tax Service offices are drop-off points for Cell Phones for Soldiers. This organization recycles used cell phones and the other items to provide phone calling cards for our military stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the world.

Cell Phones for Soldiers makes contact with home a reality for soldiers. The high cost of calling home prompted two concerned teenagers to start CPFS with $14 of their snack money. Brittany and Robbie Bergquist of Norwell, Massachusetts and their family enlisted the help of sponsors and phone companies to recycle used cell phones to provide calling cards. As a National Premier Partner, Liberty Tax Service has contributed over 120,000 used cell phones since 2004 totaling over 11.5 million minutes of calling time for our military. The Cell Phones for Soldiers website has details for those who would like to make cash donations.

Stop Hunger Now

Stop Hunger NowLiberty Tax Corporate Employees Embrace the Mission of Fighting World Hunger through Stop Hunger Now

John Hewitt’s personal mission is ending world hunger in his lifetime. In 1998, Hewitt and Reverend Ray Buchanan launched a world crusade against hunger by founding Stop Hunger Now, a non-profit 501(c) (3) international relief organization headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. Since its inception, Stop Hunger Now has provided over $56 million dollars worth of direct aid and 18 million meals to more than 70 countries worldwide. Liberty Tax Service continues to support Stop Hunger Now with contributions from CEO John Hewitt, Liberty franchisees and employees.

We are committed to making a difference by supporting Stop Hunger Now’s latest venture, Operation Sharehouse. This initiative has served as yet another venue for Liberty team building as Liberty corporate employees and some franchises have organized events where food is packaged and sent overseas to those in need. Corporate employees volunteered in the first food packing event at the new Norfolk Operation Sharehouse in November 2008, and packaged over 10,000 meals in three hours. The meals are high protein, dehydrated meals for Stop Hunger Now that were distributed to hungry people around the world at a cost of only 25 cents per meal. Operation Sharehouse is a very efficient system that utilized volunteer muscle and cost-effective methods to get food and life-sustaining items to people in need as soon as possible. Stop Hunger Now operates the Operation Sharehouse meal packaging programs from its locations in Raleigh, Goldsboro and Charlotte, NC; South Hill, Hampton Roads, Richmond and Lynchburg, VA; Jackson, MS; Phoenix, AZ; and South Africa.
