Fanatical at Liberty

Archive: March 2014

My Liberty story is about my co-worker Jackie Chapman and how she has touched my life. I first meet Jackie in my 2011 Ten week Basic Tax class. She was unable to work with us that tax season because she was needed at home. But, she returned that fall to retake the class and work the tax season starting in January 2013.

Good Afternoon! My experience with Liberty Tax Service actually began 30 years ago. Your tax preparer Teresa Seiver has been my best friend for that many years. The last year has been a roller coaster to say the least. In February of 2013 I was forced to sell my business and get back to a regular job that supplied me with benefits to support my teenage son. That's ok because I will do anything to take care of him.

I'm Timmithy Longoria and this is my Liberty story. In order to understand my story and why Liberty means so much to me you have to know my past. Starting off in life I came from a broken home and an unstable life. I was a run away at the age of 14 from an abusive home that did not accept me as being transgender , and there after the path my life was on, was not a good one, my actions and irresponsible mistakes finally caught up to me.

As a new "Zee", I've run into the typical situation of needing to have more wavers than you think you need. Then there is Amy Neubauer. Amy came to my office just as tax season was opening looking for a waver position; she mentioned she had once been a waver in Georgia and was very familiar with responsibilities of the position.

We went to the Liberty Tax office to file our taxes and they helped us get our taxes back quicker. Thanks and great costumer experience.

I recently had an opportunity to help one of my former students and his mother in a way that changed their lives for the better. The former student was a young man I had mentored in home room. After talking with him I discovered that his mother was disabled. He said she never filed taxes because she was on disability. He asked if he could claim his brother because he contributed a great deal to his support.

This year we rode the trolley several days at the beginning of the season and I learned that they now charge $.25 per person per ride. It doesn't seem like a lot of money but I learned that it has affects the daily riders. So my little girl Kitana and I decided to grab a couple rolls of quarters and pay for everyones ride e next couple times we rode.

This year our 7th Annual Liberty Tax Charity Golf Tournament will be on May 24th. Over the years, our tournaments have raised money for the March of Dimes, A Little Bit of Home (making care packages for marines), the Redmond Education Fund (local family that lost their father unexpectedly at age 40), the Zawierucha Family (a family that lost their father in an ATV accident), and last year we raised over $13,000 dollars for Breast Cancer Awareness in honor of Barb Sciandra (a local mother of 3 diagnosed with breast cancer).

In fall 2010, my parents started doing a lot of rumbling about starting up a new business and they told me there would be a job opportunity. Well, being that I had been unemployed and living with them since 2008 I was excited to see what I would be doing. I was a sign waver. Due to the fact that we are in Hutchinson, Minnesota the first part of the season was quite cold,  but I did not quit and finished the season off.
