No, your answer is in the palm of your hands.  

Yes, the IRS is the newest, hippest, most happening federal agency around. IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman announced that the IRS now has its own smartphone app that lets taxpayers check on the status of their tax refund. Just download the app—IRS2Go. 

If you’re one of more than 142 million individual tax returns who will e-file this year, the refund function of IRS2Go will work within about 72 hours after you receive an e-mail saying the IRS received your tax return. If you filed a paper return, it will take three to four weeks before IRS2Go can tell you when your return has been processed.  

This new smartphone app, launched in late January, gives you a convenient way of checking your federal refund. Whether you’re an iPhone or Android smartphone convert, you can now use this handy mobile app to help you plan your next getaway and check on the status of your return.
