Oklahoma Income Tax Forms Rates & Services

Every Oklahoma resident who has enough income to require the filing of a Federal income tax return is required to file an Oklahoma return, regardless of the source of income.  Those residents who do not meet the filing requirements, but who have Oklahoma taxes withheld (or who have made estimated tax payments) should also file Oklahoma taxes.

Every part-year resident has the same filing requirements as a resident. During the period of non-residence, an Oklahoma return is required if the Oklahoma part-year resident has a gross income from Oklahoma sources of $1,000 or more. Every nonresident with gross income of $1,000 or more from Oklahoma is required to file an Oklahoma income tax return as well.

There shall be allowed an additional exemption on the Oklahoma Income Tax Return of $1,000 for each taxpayer or spouse who is 65 years of age or older at the close of the tax year, based upon the filing status. Taxpayers with the following status may claim this exemption if the federal adjusted gross income does not exceed:

• $25,000 if married and filing jointly;
• $12,500 if married and filing separately;
• $15,000 if single; and
• $19,000 if a qualifying head of household.

Military pay earned in Oklahoma by non-resident personnel, stationed in Oklahoma while on active duty, shall be exempt from Oklahoma Income Tax. These earnings are treated as "out-of-state" income. This exemption applies only to military pay earned in Oklahoma, and income from the performance of a service other than military duty is subject to Oklahoma Income Tax. Non-military earnings of a spouse are similarly taxable.
