In this economy we need all the help we can
get. With children in college and
working and still living at home we have to look for every discount and
deduction we can get on our taxes. My
son is a paramedic, goes to school full time, is getting ready to start nursing
school and works in the ER at a local hospital.
Has anyone had to buy scrubs lately, they are not cheap. You need three or four sets or you will be
washing clothes every day. Then you need
decent shoes, which have to be black or white depending upon where you
work.
Do you wear scrubs, lab coats or special work shoes
for your job?
Did you know that uniform purchases are tax
deductible?
If your job makes you wear a uniform that is not
paid for by your employer you can deduct the cost from your taxes.
Work
Clothes and Uniforms (from IRS Website)
You can
deduct the cost and upkeep of work clothes if the following two requirements
are met:
- You
must wear them as a condition of your employment.
- The
clothes are not suitable for everyday wear.
If you
have any questions regarding what qualifies and what does not, call a local
Liberty Tax office and they can help you.
