Down but not out

govtfurloughDuring the government shutdown, there will be limited Internal Revenue Service operations; however, we at Liberty Tax want to remind taxpayers that the tax laws still remain in effect and everyone should continue “business as usual” - meaning the IRS still expects to receive your checks  and deadlines must still be met.

We don’t want anyone burdened with penalties or late fees because the federal government has shut many of its doors and taxpayers believe this is a reprieve. And to those 12 million taxpayers who applied for a 6-month extension, the IRS expects your tax return next Tuesday, October 15.
