I need information about filing status, EIC, and dependent care. If my husband is in prison and I have power of attorney for taxes, can I file MFJ? Also, if I do file MFJ, can I claim dependent care? The form says that my husband must either be a student or disabled for me to get the credit with him not having an income.

He is in prison, does this count as disabled?

MFJ will get me more money but I am confused about the whole inmate thing. And the IRS website is worthless.

Help!

Finally! All three of my children matter. As a single mother it was diffucult to see that one of my three children was not worth claiming on my tax return. Now I feel like it is fair. How many families only have 2 children anyway? I hope this is not just a fad but a trend that can hang around awhile.

Because the hourly rate varies so much based on location, experience, bonus, etc... I would call your local office and ask them for the average hourly rate in that office. That will give you the most accurate number. Hope you consider joining the team!
