In 2013,  I turned 65 and had never had any surgeries in my lifetime. In April 2013, I had open-heart surgery to repair my mitral valve and in September, I was referred to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City for a transplant. I was put on a waiting list and 21 days after that I received my heart, thanks to a wonderful, loving donor family.

This family had lost their 25 year old son in a car accident and chose to donate, which I feel was God's plan as He still had things He needed me to do. I have had my new heart for 1 year, 3 months and 20+ days and I am back to doing what I love to do, which is to help others. I teach 4th and 5th grade Sunday School, work with AWANA Cubbies on Wednesday, and help with Mothers of Preschoolers working with 4 and 5 year old children.

I work as a receptionist at Liberty Tax - Pawnee and Seneca in Wichita and when a receptionist is not needed, I am a waver. I enjoy it because waving is good exercise and I enjoy being outside. I enjoy reception because I get to meet all kinds of people and I love entertaining the children with humor and balloon animals as their parents get their taxes done.

God has blessed me and my family with a true miracle of being able to do His work, in all of the mysterious ways that can happen.
