Our community is the reason each and every one of us remains in business today. Our continued success and growth is all because of “Our Community.” I feel that it is our obligation to give back to the ones who gave to us.

After the tax season, we began our mission teaming up with the major players and local businesses in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. To help a community is something you cannot do alone! City Council, Cricket, Aaron’s, The UPS Store, Brandywine Health Foundation, Coatesville Library, and Coatesville Youth Initiative shared the light on exactly what the community needed and how Liberty Tax could help.

Because of the continuous crime, drugs and murders, there are limited activities available to my community. There is one outside pool in the city and that was recently closed, due to finances. Drug dealers or drug users are using the parks. No one has a vehicle, money or access to affordable public transportation to leave the city.

Right now, my community does not need a Seminar or a Road Side Party, they need a summer filled with activities for the family, to create memories, forget our struggle, laugh and enjoy their family.
With City Council granting me permission and free access to every park in Coatesville, and Liberty Tax started out hosting and participating in the following events:

• Coatesville Movie Night - Liberty shows two movies per month in the park
• Liberty Game Battling – Friday night Super Smash Brothers and Minecraft battles (PS4, Wii, and Game Cube)
• Coatesville Back To School Event – Donated $1000 and collected over $1200 in donations from local businesses
• Go Green Recycling Event – Liberty staff hauled 150 tires to Firestone for recycling in personal vehicles
- Coatesville Non-Violence Event
• GED Courses Implemented in Library and teaching courses
• ESL Program Implemented in Library, teaching courses and handling ITIN processing
• Family Fun Day at Coatesville Library – holding movie night and game battling sessions
• Improving Parks Committee with Brandywine Health Foundation
• Liberty Hair Cut Event – local barbers donated haircut for 1st day of school for free tax return

LTS Coatesville is involved in an event every week off-season and have been able to bring in many key partners. Cricket, Aaron’s, The UPS Store, TD Bank, Wells Fargo are businesses in our community who partnered with us, donate and participate in the events with Liberty.

All of us have mascots so we dance together on the streets of Coatesville, supporting each other. Aaron’s agreed to donate four big screen TV’s and all setup for video game battle that going to take place weekly at the store. They are also getting book bags to donate to “Back to School Event.” Cricket will be purchasing all the door hangers this year with their coupon on the back and I will distribute.

Brandywine Health Foundation provides grants to all the business in Coatesville and is supporting us in this mission. Coatesville Youth Initiative has awesome events for the community and our youth. This is my second year participating in one of the biggest “Back To School Event,” in the city collecting and distributing close to 10,000 back packs. We just had the “Going Green” event and collected over 200 tires laying around the city.

Remember, giving back comes from the heart and without “Our Community,” we would not be here today. Expect nothing in return – when you give from the heart it comes back stronger year after year.
