Online Basic Income Tax Course

Still can’t find time to attend Liberty’s Tax School at your local office? This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of tax preparation. The course consists of nineteen classes with an average of three hours each. These live online courses will be offered Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. EST beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2015. If you are unable to attend the live events, you may still register to and watch the replays of the classes at your convenience and finish the course at your own pace. Replays will be available through June 1, 2016. The cost is $199.00 which covers the cost of associated materials for the tax course.

Online Oregon 80-Hour Basic Income Tax Course

This course will be coupled with our Basic Income Tax Course and Liberty’s Oregon Supplement Course, which is approved by the state. The course consists of twenty-two classes with an average of four hours each. A certificate will be issued to students who successfully pass the course. Passing the course means attending 80-hours of training and passing each exam with a 70% or above. The live course will be held Monday and Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. PST beginning Thursday, September 10, 2015. If you are unable to attend our live event, you can still register to this course and follow the replays of the classes at your convenience. Replays will be available through June 1, 2016. The cost is $249.00 which covers the cost of associated materials for the tax course.

Online California 60-Hour Qualifying Education Course

Liberty is approved to offer a Qualifying Education course. In addition to our Basic Income Tax Course taught during these 60 hours, we will be covering the required California tax laws. The course consists of twenty classes with an average of three hours each. Students who successfully pass this course will be able to register with CTEC (California Tax Education Council). Passing the course means attending 60-hours of training and passing each exam with a 70% or above. The live online courses will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9 p.m. PST beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2015. If you are unable to attend the live events, you may still register to this course and follow the replays of the classes at your convenience. Replays will be available through June 1, 2016. The cost is $249.00 which covers the cost of associated materials for the tax course.  

Online Rapid Course

This accelerated course will be offered for someone who wants to learn the fundamentals of preparing a simple tax return. It is convenient for any person interested in something not too complicated, but gives you the knowledge of simple tax laws. You can still register to this course and follow the replays of the classes at your convenience. This course will be held December 7, 2015 through December 11, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST. The cost of the course including materials is $49.

Advanced Online Courses

The following Advanced Online courses are offered. Continuing Education and CPE credits are available.

  • Business Taxes
    This course will teach how to prepare business tax returns for C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies.
  • Estates, Trusts and Gifts 
    This course will cover a basic understanding of estate, gift and fiduciary income taxes.

Liberty Tax Service has been approved by the California Tax Education Council to offer Liberty Tax School (CTEC Course #2097-QE-0001), which fulfills the 60-hour "qualifying education" requirement imposed by the State of California to become a tax preparer. Licensed by Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (OAR) 715-045-0033(6). Students must pass the Tax Preparer examination given by Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners before preparing tax returns for others.

In Maryland, additional instruction and requirements are necessary to prepare an individual for employment as a Registered Tax Return Preparer.

In Arkansas, Liberty Tax is licensed By the SBPCE State Board.

In Tennessee, students will be offered employment per satisfactory completion.

Liberty does not make any promise, warrant or covenant as to the transferability of any credits earned at Liberty Tax Service. Credits earned at Liberty Tax Service, may not transfer to another educational institution. Credits earned at another educational institution may not be accepted by Liberty Tax Service. You should obtain confirmation that Liberty Tax Service will accept any credits you have earned at another educational institution before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement. You should also contact any educational institutions that you may want to transfer credits earned at Liberty Tax Service, to determine if such institutions will accept credits earned at Liberty Tax Service prior to executing an enrollment contract or agreement. The ability to transfer credits from Liberty Tax Service to another educational institution may be very limited. Your credits may not transfer, and you may have to repeat courses previously taken at Liberty Tax Service if you enroll in another educational institution. You should never assume that credits will transfer to or from any educational institution. It is highly recommended and you are advised to make certain that you know the transfer of credit policy of Liberty Tax Service, and of any other educational institutions you may in the future want to transfer the credits earned at Liberty Tax Service, before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement.
